18 December 2015ABC & co. got its accounts audited within the due date but they uploaded the income tax return only an year later. This was a mistake assuming that afteraudit is done, there are no other formalities. However, when the same was realised and the return was filed on 12th jan 2012. This return was not processed at it was filed manually and after due date. Can this be processed now and claim refund?

Yes, there is a provision. You would have to approach your assessing officer for this. He would issue a notice to you to file your return then it can duly processed. Carefully file your return with refund claim.

Return can be filed upto two years of ending the Fincancial year ends if the finalcial year ends on 31 march 2014 than the return can be filed upto 31st march 2016. A belated return filed after due date will be processed. if they have forgotten write to the concerened AO with xerox copy of ITR-V and 26AS form. The application must be for Refund request.
