Rectifications in e-filing

Efiling 1621 views 7 replies

Dear friends,

pls clarrify me regarding the following.

FACTS OF THE CASE:

E-filing of Income tax return for the asst. year 2011-12 has been filed for one of my client claiming Refund of Rs.20,000/-. Now the same has been processed by CPC banglore and send a refund order for the same amount what we have claimed.

But the problem is, at time of e-filing we mention wrong bank account number of the assessee by mistake. Now the refund cheuqe has been received with wrong bank account number. The bankers too have objected the assessee for encashing his refund cheque staing the reason "WRONG BANK ACCOUNT NO."

Pls suggest me the proper course of action to be taken for getting the refund order again with correct bank account number.

First of all

return the check to the SBI Branch (Mumbai Branch mentioned in check)

return it with a letter mentioning your mistake and asking them to cancel the cheque so that new cheque can be issued

once the cheque is cancelled check your CPC refund failure status on incometaxefilling.gov.in ...

when the status is updated to REFUND CANCELLED or REFUND FAILURE

download the Response sheet and send it to CPC

download the Response sheet  after that send to the cpc xerox copy of your bank statement showing that you have not claimed the refund along with the self attested copy of affidavit on a non judicial stamp paper worth any amount.....and send it to CPC

Send the refund cheque to the refund banker along with a cancelled cheque of your bank account and a covering letter explaining the facts. Further serve a copy of the same letter along with a copy of the refund cheque to the local jurisdictional AO. Only on receipt of advice for refund from the local AO, the refund banker prepares a fresh cheque with the correct details and sends it across.

Thank you Jignesh ji n satish ji.. your nice guestures really helps in building confidence

Arey yaar (tushar lakhanpalji) , thanks mat bolo yaar.

Hi Tushar,

I am facing the same issue as mentioned here. I did efiling of my tax return and the account details that I mentioned has become inoperative now.

I returned the refund cheque to SBI , Mumbai. Then I got Response Sheet at Income Tax Web site. I have sent the filled response Sheet along with Signed+Cancelled+Original Cheque to CPC Bangalore.

As CPC Banagalore has post Bag No, I can send only Ordinary Post . (Speed Post /Registered Post cannot be send).

Now almost 30 days have passed there no update on the Income Tax site about reissue of refund.

I am not sure what do now and whom to approach ?

How much time should it take for reissuance of refund?

Thanks

Mukul
