Received sms notice from AX-CMCPCI

I have received SMSes presumably from the Income tax dept asking me to file for taxes(please refer to the attached screenshot of SMSes). However the PAN details, name & amount quoted in the messages are not mine!! It seems like someone else's warning messages have been sent to me. I have filed and verified returns for AY 19-20 and paid taxes on my capital gains transaction on house sale pertaining to FY 18-19. The status of those returns also shows "ITR Processed" and I also got an intimation u/s 143(1) via email & SMS which said there are no issues.

I also tried checking any outstanding demand or notice by logging into both the online portal and the insight compliance portal but there were no messages anywhere. Also I have not received any notice by email.

How do I tell the IT department that they are sending me notices that are actually intended for someone else?

Try to raise grievance in Income Tax Portal using E-Nivaran or else contact the help desk. They might help you...

Alright.. thanks.. wasn't aware they had a grievance redressal mechanism.

CMCPCI is a unit within the Indian tax authorities that is responsible for reviewing and processing online Income Tax Returns (ITRs). If you have filed your ITR online and have received an SMS notification with the CMCPCI source code, it indicates that your return is being processed by the CMCPCI.

Can u pls tell what is the full form of CMCPCI.

I got the same message.
But there is a clear spelling mistake in my name. Seems to be a spam.

Any CA can confirm this?

If the PAN is same as per your name, then you need to be alert. These SMSes are not SPAM.

No name is not same.

Then need not worry. Need to be careful if PAN no is same.

Where we submit the PAN

To the authorities where you had submitted form 60, like bank/s for non deduction of TDS.

Attention My Name and  Pan No.

As per information available in your case on Compliance Portal of the Income Tax Department, you were supposed to file your ITR for A.Y. 2023-24 but the same has not yet been filed. Please file your ITR or submit online response under ''e-Campaign'' tab on ''Compliance Portal''. After login to the e-filing Portal (https://www.incometax.gov.in), go to ''Pending Actions'' tab and click on ''Compliance Portal''. On Compliance Portal, navigate to ''e-Campaign tab'' and view campaign type ''Non filers'' to submit response. Please ignore if ITR has already been filed. - Income Tax Department

File ITR before 31st December, 2023; if not filed. See that all the transaction reported in AIS reporting are incorporated in the ITR filed.
