Hi,

While collating data observed the following:

1. Rebate u/s 87A has been accounted for in the Form 16 provided to me by my employer and deducted and then tax Rs.15045.00 + Education Cess @ 3% Rs.451.00 = Rs.15506.00 deducted and paid to IncomeTax.  Also observe while filing in returns that in the ITR-2 Part B-TT1 under 2 question  "Rebate under section 87A (applicable for resident and if 12 of Part B-TI does not exceed 5 lakh)"   Could you let me know should I leave it blanck since it has been accounted for in the Form 16 or should I fill in Rs.5000.00 for the Assesment Year 2017-18.

2. Education Cess has also been deducted on above amount mentioned above Rs.451.00 and paid to Income Tax.  Also observe while filing in returns that in the ITR-2 Part B-TT1 under 5 question Education cess, including secondary and higher education cess on (3+4) Could you let me know should I leave it blank since it has been accounted for in the Form 16 or should I fill in Rs.451.00

Experts, please advise.

If your total income does not exceed Rs 5 lakh you are entitled for rebate of Rs. 5000. If you are so entitled always claim it. Similarly you have to pay education cess also.

My query is that Rs.5000 has already been deducted in when TDS deducted and paid by Company to Income Tax and form 16 has been given to me, while filing returns should i again add Rs.5000 and the Cess of 3 % as mentioned above in the respective cells and claim deduction while filing e returns., Thanks,

Why not...... . . .

You mean to say that under ITR-2 Part B-TT1 2nd question  "Rebate under section 87A (applicable for resident and if 12 of Part B-TI does not exceed 5 lakh)"   In the ITR-2, I can mention Rs.5000.00 for the Assessment Year 2017-18 as Rebate under 87A even though it has been deducted and then tax paid as per Form 16 by the company.

2. that under  ITR-2 Part B-TT1 under 5th question Education cess, I can fill in education cess of Rs.262.00

Sorry for this foolish question but I just want to make sure that I do not do anything wrong that will make my ITR getting cancelled
