Many great personalities in the world had no great degrees against their names but they became much more successful in life than people with many degrees against their names. They did what they believed in the most; that's why they were successful in life if not academically.
May be for lesser mortals who don't have the guts to pursue their dreams academics is the base to what is called a secure future career.
