Preventive health checkup under section 80d

Hello

I have some queries on the Preventive Health checkup benefit under Section 80D.

  1. How much is the limit for Parents above 60 years (sr. citizens) - is it 5000 or 7000?
  2. Is this amount over and above the limit of 35000 for Sr. Citizens? Means is it 35000 + 5000/7000 OR is it included in the 35000?
  3. Is a doctor's prescripttion needed for the checkup?

1. it is rs 5,000for senior citizens.

2. It is 30,000 + 5,000

3. I think prescribtion is needed.

As per this link, it is mentioned that the total is 30000 (inclusive of the 5000), not 30000+5000.

you can claim up to 30000 for SR citizen and 25000 for individual less than 60 years inclusive of medical check up... but for medical check up the threshold limit is 5000.
