Yes, sir it's true that some Govt. owned banks (like SBI) are still accepting physical challans for payment of tax.

Yes, many bank provide both services i.e., manual and netbanking for payment of tax.

In service tax , it is mandatory to make e-payment if, last year or current year tax paid by you is more than Rs. 50,00,000/-.

In excise,it is mandatory to make e-payment if, last year tax paid by you is more than Rs. 50,00,000/-.

 

i have faced situations when the payment is confirmed but the receipt does not generate due to server problem............in such a situation it is very difficult to recover the lost challan

I also faced same problems some branches not accept

So, submitt the chalan through net banking and get a receiving copy hand to hand
