The Public Provident Fund Rules do not permit termination of account before maturity date i.e. after 15 years. Withdrawal are permitted after 7th year.
Under the rules, where the Central Govt. is satisfied that the operation of the any of the provisions of this scheme causes undue hardship to a subscriber, it may, by order for reasons to be recorded in writing , relax the requirements of that provision in a manner not inconsistent with the provisions of the Act.
When the pre-mature withdrawal is permitted by Central Government or the ministry concerned, they will also give direction for taxation of the amount permitted to be withdrawan before 15 years.
