  Introduction  
 

In the wake of financial crisis and recession, and the current pick-up of M&A activity it is clear than ever that high-quality business valuation is essential for successful M&A. The program is firmly rooted in theory while also addressing practical applications. This course, would therefore, equip members and other financial accounting professionals with the necessary knowledge and practical exposure in this direction.

 
     
  Course Objective  
 

The objective of this course is to provide the candidates with a thorough knowledge of the following areas and to equip members with the specialized skills necessary for developing a dedicated practice in the area of services related to Business Valuation Management. The subject already exists in the present curriculum of the Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India at the Final Stage; hence this course would provide value addition by giving in-depth knowledge and practical implication of the subject. In addition to undisputed technical competence the practitioners should have authority and influence with boards and shareholders. Those who complete the program would possess:

  • A thorough knowledge of valuation theory, including the most recent academic research, and the ability to apply this knowledge in practice
  • The ability to address valuation issues relevant in practice but not covered in textbooks
  • The ability to individually practice valuations and add value to decisions at each phase of transaction
  • The ability to present and defend valuations to boards, in negotiations and in other context

Introduction  
  Managing foreign exchange risk is a fundamental component in the safe and sound management of all institutions that have exposure in foreign currencies. It involves prudently managing foreign currency positions, in order to control, within set parameters the impact of foreign exchange rates on the financial position of the institution. Generally, a companies’ Board of Directors needs to have a means of ensuring compliance with the foreign exchange risk management program, this is done normally through periodic reporting by inspectors/auditors. These risk management practices are widely used in public and private sectors, covering a wide range of activities or operations. It is now an integral part of business planning.  
  Course Objective  
 

The course covers foreign exchange market, money market, bond market operations and related financial products. It therefore analyses the international finance environment within which banks, other intermediaries and companies operate. It also provides an overview of structure and key functions of the treasury. The emphasis is on developing skill sets which would be required for making sound financial decisions in an international context. The course endeavors to cover briefly the concepts and benefits of using risk management practices particularly in foreign exchange and treasury management.
