A pool account is a central account used by brokers to aggregate client funds or securities to simplify and speed up settlement processes. SEBI discontinued the use of these accounts for mutual fund transactions in 2022 to protect investors by ensuring funds and units flow directly between the investor and the mutual fund house, thereby reducing risks of fraud, misuse, and unauthorized intermediate handling.
