I am working as a Govt Employee. My wife has a contractual appointment in govt school having salary 5000/- per month. I have deposited a LIC premium of Rs 8000/- which was in the name of my wife. Whether I can show it in my declaration to my organisation for deduction U/s 80C?

Yes, you can claim u/s 80C. as the section allows the deduction of premium paid for spouse and children.

Any amount that you pay towards life insurance premium for yourself, your spouse or your children is included in Section 80C deduction. Please note that life insurance premium paid by you for your parents (father / mother / both) or your in-laws is not eligible for deduction under section 80C
