plz help in income tax??

dear all i m pursuing cs executive group 1 ! i m facing difficulty in income tax paper rest of the subject are ok! i m non commerce student and reside in small town where there is no quality coaching on income tax and no oral coaching for cs!

kindly suggest me which books should i refer to understand the concept of income tax ! plz suggest the books that are easy to understand moreover my attempt is in dec 2010 for module 1 ! Is 3 .5 mnth enogh time to complete the studies????? or should i try in june 2011

First of all remove the feeling that you are from Non commerce background. Students coming from

Non Commerce ground are excelling like any thing in the commerce field.

I appreciate your difficulty to study Income tax as you are residing in a town which does not have

coaching facilities.

I suggest Students guide to Income tax by TN Manoharan for CA IPCC primarily.

You can follow Students guide to Income tax by DR. V.K. Singhania for CA IPCC for your reference .

Even You can follow Students guide to Income tax by Girish Ahuja as your reference.

3.5 months is sufficient period for cracking the exam. Dont postpone the exam as u r going to crack in

this December

You can take the help of a Degree college lecturer , in case you find any difficulty in understanding

the subject and CA club is always there for your help.

Dont worry about the background of non-commerce. For easy understanding of the concepts in taxation, refer the below link and download the material and go through this ICAI material, which is made student friendly for the complex tax law. So, follow the theory part from the below downloaded link for all chapters and i adivse you to buy Dr VK Singhania Direct Tax book for practical problems and be perfect with these two..these are sufficient to score good marks and 3.5months time is sufficient to crack the exam subject to more time of hardwork u put in. All the best.

I will suggest you to thoroughly read your tax module only. I think it is the best. If you need any clarification you can read from Dr. V.K. Singhania's book as well. That means these two books are more than sufficient.

From your Tax Laws module go through the Service Tax and VAT portion first as it covers 40 marks and then go to the wealth tax(10 marks) and income tax(50 marks). I think if you read in this way then you will be in a safer side and your confidence will also increase after reading the theory of service tax and VAT which are relatively easy as compared to income tax.
