A trick to identify that to which entity  a give PAN belongs to  (Indiv, company, HUF etc....)

As we know, A PAN consists of 10  alphanumeric digits. For Eg. -ARJPC1108K.

Catch the fourth letter of PAN

In the above example fourth letter is P, so P-for Person (individual ) , similarly   C-Company, T-Trust , F-P'ship firm , H-HUF etc.

thanks alot for this information.

Also the 5th letter stands for the first letter of the surname in case of an individual.

Like AHWPM5190N -- here 5th letter M stands for Mehta or Modi or Majumdar in case of individual.

Similarly AACCC7890D -- here 4th letter is C - Company and 5th also being C , denotes a company whose name starts with C like Coal India etc.
