Well... I guess this is indeed a great news for CA students pursuing articleship now. This new course will definitely have a great impact on the number of students taking up CA as a career immediately after schooling.

The new entrants will hesitate to take up the course for the following reasons:

There is a significant increase in the duration of the course.
Any delay in clearing the exam (IPCC) will prolong the duration of the course further.
Moreover to handle papers like tax in PCC, Students who do not have hands-on practical experience would find it difficult to clear the paper.

To sum up, the new scheme is chalked out with a view to have a check on the increasing number of students taking up CA as a career and thereby ensuring that there is no demand – supply mismatch in the job market!

I agree with you completely....Its almost like the ICAI itself does not know what it wants...

IT MUST HAVE SOME FUTUREPLANNING BEHIND THIS NEW SCHEME,

so we cant judge them until unless having brief idea about INSTITUTES planning and decision.

during the last few years, too much emphasis has been given upon the no. of people taking up the course(intimidated by the huge section of students movin towards mba)...but i guess what warrants more attention, is the pass percentage and the placements thereafter....

Actually now a true leader/Professional has emerged Mr Ved Jain.The Number of fake courses in name of Accountants has been mushrooming now this course will put an end to those things.Further lot of pressure from finance ministry to produce more accountants as therre is great demand supply mismatch.

its gonna be implemented frm november 2009...

its a 9 months course including 2 groups... ppl cleared cpt should take up nine months study course b4 appearing 4 d ipcc exam.. either 1 or both groups can b cleared... no articleship required... only aftr ipcc a person is eligible 2 join articleship n can write his finals aftr a period of 2 1/2 yrs of his articleship.
