Dear Shashank, You can lodge complaint with NSDL and request them to correct the discrepancy, which would unnecessarily linger on. In my opinion, I would suggest you to get the PAN data corrected by submitting Form 49A (Request For New PAN Card Or/ And Changes In PAN Data), which is as good as making a new PAN card but with the same PAN. So long as you are efiling your returns, there might be no problem. But, when there is problem and you are asked to appear before your Assessing Officer, then you have to visit Nainital. It is therefore better to get the PAN Data correctted in PAN Database of the IT Dept.
