The ICAI does not permit other academic/professional courses during the articleship befrore prior permission with the institute. My question is, do a student require to take permission if he/she is pursuing a certificate/diploma courses via distance learning education ? Are the cretficate/diploma programme also regarded as academic/professional courses? Suppose, someone wants to pursue a 1 year diploma course from IGNOU.

Yes. Even if one is doing distance course than too its compulsory to take permission from the ICAI.
