If I am filing a revised return as I am elgible for higher refund, Do I need to mention anywhere the refund received in original return or I have to fill it like original return (obviously with corrected details) and IT department will adjust the previous refund  ?

Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies the process of filing a revised tax return when eligible for a higher refund. Participants confirm that you do not need to explicitly mention the original refund received. Instead, you should fill out the revised return with corrected details, and the IT department will automatically adjust the previous refund and issue any balance due, along with interest. The intimation under section 143(1) will reflect these processing details.

Need not mention anywhere...fill like original returns ( corrected details). Dept will adjust previous refund
Yes. IT department will adjust the previous refund and pay you the balance refund with interest

Thanks Eswar and Raj for confirming this. I have submitted the revised return.

Most welcome........

You may get intimation under section 143(1) for revised return

@ Eswar I hope I don't have to do anything on that. Intimation under section 143(1) is just for refund. is that correct ?

Yes. It will show the ITR processing details

Yesterday Evening I filed the revised return and to my surprise in the morning I got refund credit SMS. That was really fast.

Just One more query - what if I would have not notice my mistake, would any point in future department detect that and initiate refund on their own or it would have been lost ?

It would have been lost sir
