The 2017_ITR2_PR12.xls says assessment year 2017-18 and the 2018_ITR2_PR12.xls says assessment year 2018-19 so it should be 2017_ITR2_PR12.xls right?
or is it that they have uploaded the xls with incorrect assessment year? I dont mind trying with 2018 xls but i dont want to submit next year tax return.

I want to file tax for the period 1st April 2017 to 31 Mar 2018

i get X M L from 2018_ITR2_PR12.xls

i file on the e-portal as assessment for AY 2018-2019 and use the X M L.

is that correct? thanks in advance.

Also any additional selection i have to do in the excel while generating the X M L to say its for 2017-18 not 2018-19.

Thanks Abhay, that worked and i have successfully filed my retuens,

i was confused between FY and AY. FY is 17-18 and AY is 18-19.
