Not sure if return was filed for fy2009-10

You first register your PAN in Income Tax Portal. Then, under "My Account " menu, you will get "My Return" option. Then enter the Asst Year and know whether return was filed or not. Moreover, you can also check out your processing status from "E-filing processing Status" option.

Further, even you can get the assessment order also, if you find that you had filed your return by sending an online request for issue of Asst order in "143(1)/154 Order Request" under My Account Menu

Thanks for reply. However, I have already checked in efile portal and based on this, the return was not e-filed. But, it might have been filed physically, can we know this?

The only way to check that, is by visiting the relevant ITO ward/circle.
