Non filing of income tax for 2013-14

Hello,

I got a notice from the income tax officer for non filing of my income tax return for the year 2013-14.

Actually, I am a house wife and my husband had transferred money to my account which i invested in FDs and Mutual funds.

I didn't file my returns. The intrest amount is around 5-6 lacks.

Please advice me on what I should be doing now? I am really scared and worried

ok
is this income is taxed in hands of your husband .. as per the clubbing provision..
if taxed then you don't need to worry about it..

and if not taxed
then see what will happen . since not able to file return for that period..

Income from my husban'd salary is taxed of course.

But when this money got reinvested and capital gains out of this reinvested money should have been considered and I should have filed, which I didn't.

The amount in your husband's account then it's not taxable if already taxed...
Otherwise it's in your account or Your name (FD & MF) then the interest is taxable in your hand...
Also you ll be check your both investments and TDS...


Once again check out the NMS. What is the intimation in that notice...
