No more trend in CA Final exams- How to prepare?

Final 2011 views 15 replies

Hello All,

  •    As all of us would have observed.. I think the times are gone where CA Final exams question papers used to atleast reflect a trend with  regard to weightage alloted to chapters, type of questions, etc. As it is obvious that we should be able to handle any kind of paper that comes our way, What needs to be changed in our preparation that would help us do better in exams?

  • Especially, how to prepare for papers like Law- May 17? I don't think any of the reference books that we use alone would have been enough to do that paper better, Should we just give preference to Institute Study Mat?

  • Those people who only did Institute Study Mat and PM, Were you able to handle the type of questions that were asked in Law and Audit Papers?

Please share your opinion or strategies so as to benefit everyone. Thankyou

Sorry to ask this questions:: is it required this much tough and lengthy papers for CA..? After all like our country where undergroud managment is equally plays and pays...[as in normal days I hardly seen a bright CAs]  I cannot just understand why ICAI cruch the students like this??

I can understand the frustration.. me going through the same myself. But I choose to see it as a way the institute is trying to standardise the course. I mean few of the pass outs from last couple of years were not up to the mark and I guess those are the ones who eventually do not secure a good career. So it's of no use debating the methods followed by the institute... instead let's better equip ourselves to expect the unexpected. We should also remember that even in these kind of exam scenario  there are a few thousands who manage to clear...which means the others lack strategies... and that's exactly what we should discuss here.

I genuinely don't think we should follow the trend any more. It should be all about covering as much as possible. May not possible to cover 100% but at least if we cover 95% of portions we will be safe.
I just think main weapon for all of this is revising the whole course thrice. Easier said than being done but i believe the difference between the person who clears and the person who doesnt is the amount of revision both have done. And as far as study material part is concerned, most of us avoid the institute's material because we find a bit hard to understand the concepts from it due to presentation issues and all. For that we can continue to use our reference books but after studying from these reference books, we should go through practice manual and RTPs to test our knowledge. Also you will get exposure to variety of questions which come up during exams.
Stop focusing on trend and instead focus on preparation and how to complete last minute revision.
Covering the entire syllabus and giving importance to institute materials is the only solution now
Tends make different in studies no doubt that's also true institute results always unexpected but I best strategy for study is that complete course by reference teacher book and complete minimum three times revision of institute practice mannual that help allot that's also it hard to understand pm but in many subject its only way clear exams like isca dt fr. It
ICAI wamts people to focus on there study materials and thus they have made massive improvement and taken great efforts in making the material reader friendly if you see the latest study materials you would understand !!
I doubt the effort which ICAI required from us whether it be be fruitful for us? god knows...
None of the exams have any fixed trend....everyone flows with the change and CA is not an exemption to it. We as professionals should be in the forefront of any reform and we should be the change drivers. Please walk out from your comfort zone, broaden your thinking process and work hard to face every challenge with courage...Insha'Allah nothing is impossible...Even the mountain lies at your feet after you have climbed it!!

Yes ...professionals don't follow trends....they create them...and lead them!!

Revision of course will not fetch you much......understanding and grasping the concepts with lightning speed is the key to hit it!!

Trend is no more our friend..... it's important to focus on logical front rather than the procedural front as the ones focusing on the procedural aspects have cleared but have not been able to prove the worth of the prefix "CA". Painful yet effective step taken by our institute... this is undoubtedly frustrating from a candidate's point of view. As far as may 2017 is concerned let's hope the institute considers this and be as fair as possible.

Efforts never go waste....trust ur abilities...CA is not the last exams on earth...neither ICAI responsible to give u the fruits for ur hardwork!!
