Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies whether an investment made in a newly opened PPF account before March 31st, 2024, can be claimed as a deduction under Section 80C for the Financial Year 2023-2024. The consensus is that investments made by March 31st, regardless of when the account was opened within that financial year, are eligible for the deduction, provided the total 80C investments do not exceed the limit.

thank u ....i had this doubt as i saw few ppl on yt claiming that for a newly opened ppf in fy 2023-204 even if the investment is made in the fy 2023-2024 , the first fy for the account will be in fy2024-2025 and deduction cannot be claimed in 80c for fy 2023-2024

please remember any one or aggregate of U/S 80C plans must not exceed 150000/-

@ neha,

No issues.
You can claim deduction based on the receipt date. As per this the receipt date is must between the FY...

What ever you invest in PPF, LIC,NSC, or any investment which is eligible should be done before March 31st of any Financial Year.

Thanks
