suresh-can u pl explain the impact of the same. it is not so clear.

what will be the feature of SHA-256 Hash Algorithm & 2048 bit RSA Key ? and what about the keys presently in circulation ?

In simple words w.e.f. 4th April, 2011, there are going to be 2 varients of DSC. Out of which SHA-256 will not be compatible for allapplications but still can be issued.\

But it is advisable to obtain DSC upto for 1 year which will be compatible for all websites.

SHA-256 Algorithm It means the Class-I types of Digital Signature will not be issued by Authorities for any purpose.

Digital Signature of more than 32K only be issued.

2048-RSA Key means now the Digital Signature has the algorithm set of 112bit symmetric keys.

In simple words, we need the new digital signature in very short time.

Yeah from April 2011, as per CCA guidelines only 1 yr dcs were issued.

But now from 2012, 2 year dscs are allowed.

However some certifying authorities are not issuing, probably beacuse they are in process of upgrading their systems.

Seems it will be some time before everyone starts issuing 2 year DSCs.

Well I just got DSCs(pfx files) for 2 year validity in the last 15 days and I think(and hope) there is no problem in doing so.

Just an update..certifying authorities have increased the proces of digital signatures.

Prices seem to have gone up 3 times!!

everybody seems to have increased not just one provider!
