Hi amit, I'm happy to talk with you about this. Please find details in your inbox.
In Efiling Dashboard, you will find a pop down box showing logged in as 'Self', click it and it will show Legal Representative option, click it and it will take you to portal of the deceased, and you can file returns as you normally do

Thanks Priyanka for your quick help, it worked

BTW, ITD should have included this basic information in the approval email itself

Govt working will always be Govt, they never think of citizens

*, Logon to the „e-Filing‟ websitewww.incometax.gov.in (Legalheir's Login credentials) > Dashboard >My Profile > Select the drop downunder “Logged in as” -Legal Heir > and follow the given steps to Go toe-File > Income Tax Return > File Income tax Returns.

drop down box seen after two days on approval in my experience

otherwise smooth filing ITR
First is manual approval from registered lawyer. Then logging into the e filing portal and uploading the same.

it was done...

things are quite simplified than earlier

i just uploaded SMC and pan card and it was approved overnight

and next day able to login as per steps shared by other professionals for this query

and shot the deadline with deceased ITR
