Need clarity on capital gains from shares n mutual funds

I am holding some shares for about 5 years that I need to sell. What is the tax treatment on the profit I make? I fall Into the highest tax slab. Could someone lend clarity both on capital gains and income tax if say the profit is 1 lac.

Thanks in advance.

Your profit on sale of securities will be long term capital gain.

Check if you have incurred any loss which is carried forward.

Thanks for the response.

I would require some more clarity pl. While salary gets taxed normally, does this get taxed at different rates or are the profits from sale of securities added to my total income?

Also, could you pl revert on devidend income if I other wise fall into the top tax bracket?
