As per my opinion, Such salary isn't taxable in the hands of Wife_because wife is considered as relative & The amount paid by Husband to wife can be considered as gift which shall not attract income tax under the provisions of Income-Tax Act, 1961. However, under clubbing provisions of this Act, any income accrued to her on such amounts (Interest) would be clubbed in Husband's income and he will have to pay tax on that.

I think she is not required to file ITR ..if her income is below Slabs - RS.250000 (if age is below 60 )

It is exempt from tax in india
just write a letter with proper justification along with husband wife marriage certificate to the sender of notice
File a complaint against such stupid officer for sending discombobulating notice.
It need not be gift.

it can be justified as for household expenses and pin money of housewives not taxable.

of course you need to explain the facts
No need to file return if no income or income below BEL

Simple reply to ITD in respect of money received from husband with proper documents
