Bank audit check list

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has finalized the 2006 edition of the Guidance Note on Audit of Banks which provides an exhaustive authoritative material on the knowledge of the business of the banking industry. The 2006 edition of Guidance Note is the revised version of 2005 edition incorporating the impact of the various circulars of the Reserve Bank of India as well as certain important pronouncement of the Institute. The significant coverage of the 2006 edition of the Guidance Note on Audit of Banks includes new / revised circulars of RBI in respect of prudential norms on advance , investment portfolio and capital adequacy, exposure norms on investments by banks , Corporate Debt Restructuring, KYC norms, Guidelines on Securitisation of standard assets, Risk-based approach including assessment of risk based internal audit and supervision Further, it also covers the impact of IT environment on audit, including audit checklist and guidance on audit of ATM transactions. It also deals with certain other important developments in terms of banking cash transaction tax, fringe benefit tax, service tax, etc. Apart from this the revised edition also includes new illustrative format of audit reports in case of nationalized banks and banking companies.

Hai Sekhar,

You can find a checklist for bank audit and checklist for auditing in core banking environment in the March 2007 Chartered Accountants Journal.

It is very clear and concise, it will definitely help you. But i think by this time all the branch audits will be complete.
