MAVAT AUDIT REPORT IN FORM 704= LAST DATE??

ACTUALLY THE LAST DATE OF FILLING MVAT RETURN IS 31ST JAN. BUT FORM 704 IS NOT YET FINALISED SO MAY BE THE DATE CAN BE EXTENDED,

i think it is likely to be extended for 28/02/2009

My consultant has informed me today   that last due date of submission of MVAT Audit Report in Form 704 has been extended  till 31-3-2010. Also, similar news is on www.taxguru.in.

On 22/01/10 the Hon. Finance Minister Mr. Sunil Tatkare has announced at the time of bhoomipujan ceremony of proposed building of sales tax office of Ratnagiri that MVAT Audit date is extended by 2 months. This announcement was made in the presence of Hon. Sales Tax Commissioner Mr. Sanjay Bhatia, but there is no official communication yet from the Sales tax department which is creating confusion.

Sales tax Department should come with a circular or clarification on the extension and let taxpayers know if there is any extension or not for MVAT audit for financial year 2008-09.

Last information available to me on 26.01.2010 is that Finance Minister has signed the paper and the same has been sent to Sales Tax Commissioner and he will be signing on 27th. That means by 27or 28 the circular shall be circulated.
