Long term capital gain - 36 months duration

224 views 2 replies

Hi,

I have got a property which I booked in November 2009 with the builder. Registry etc were completed in March 2014. To avoid short term capital gain, I need to wait for 36 months to lapse.

My question is, does that 36 months duration starts when I booked the property or from the month of registry?

Regards,

Gaurav

Even cases are there to take allotment letter as date of aquisition, but advisable to wait till march '17 in your case.

Hi,

Registration is completed in March 2014 so please wait till March 2017.
