Yes, its proposed; final notification to be issued.
The GST Council in its 35th meeting today extended the date for filing annual returns under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime by two months to August 30.
Checked with the GST helpline and CBIC helpline, according to them they have not received any official notification and till then the date remains as 30th June. The GST Portal still says the last date as 30th June. Can someone clarify?
If the GST portal continue to display the last date as 30th June, can we still file the return by 31st Aug?
Any official notification in last date extension as of now? Shall I consider 30th June as the last date and file or shall I hold on and wait till Aug? What do you all suggest?
As per Press Release dated 21.06.2019, the last date to file Annual Return in FORM GSTR-9, GSTR-9A and Audit Report in FORM GSTR-9C is 31.08.2019.
The GST common portal is still not updated, as no "Removal of Difficulties ORDER" has been issued.
By virtue of Section 172 of the CGST Act 2017, the Central Government is required to pass a "REMOVAL OF DIFFICULTIES ORDER" inorder to bring effect the changes in the due date of filing Annual Return so that it is not inconsistent with the Act.
No ORDER has been issued yet from the Government side.
Since it has already been decided to extend the due dates of Annual Return in the 35th GST Council Meeting, it will be 31.08.2019 only and not 30.06.2019.
ORDER will be issued within 30.06.2019. I'll notify you as soon as it is available in the cbic portal.
