I entered the PAN of my previous company (actually a startup) and a dummy DPIIT no `DIPP0000' It worked fine and my return was submitted and e-verified.
P.S - Not crying about filling a page. I retired early without any ESOPs. Doing my ITR is a learning experience and I look to learn from experts here.

Yes, Rajesh. I did the same thing and it worked. The validation was successful.
However, after preview it is not allowing to upload and showing the error "CAUGHT ERROR DESCRIPTION AS NULL". Tried everything. Filled up the form 3 times uptill now with every detail. Validation is always successful but it gives the same error after trying to proceed post PREVIEW.
Then I tried offline utility. Created JSON file successfully. While uploading it through E-Filing portal, the same error crops up.
Can anyone help ?

Note the following:-
1.All software created this AY 25-26 for the I-T Portal by Infosys is based on Microsoft Stuff. For the Excel Utility, obviously, it is Microsoft. And it must be 64Bit, 2019 version or later, otherwise json would not get saved.
2. Even the offline common utility is based NOT ON JAVA, but on Mirosoft Edge, which requires Microsoft Windows10 or 11, 64Bit.
3.You, obviously have Windows 10 or 11, 64 Bit machine with 64 Bit Excel, otherwise you would not have been able to save the json file.
4.Regarding someone to help you with your problem, you have to provide more details about the Schedules you are filling up. Just mentioning the error message while I-T Portal is checking you json is not very helpful in understanding your problem and offering a solution.

The Govt of India expects RETIRED meaning a Senior Citizen, over 60 Years age although Govt is not mentioning it specifically.
Anyone not falling in that NORM is an anomaly for Govt of India, hence for the Tax Department,, and, the ITR software gets highly confused.

You are right. I have Windows 10.
I am filling up schedules in ITR-2 except AMT, AMTC, VDA, ESOP, AL, FA etc. in short, schedules related to salary, CG, EI, OS income and VI-A for NPS deduction (New Regime) and others which are mandatory.
Have written formally to IT Email but no response yet.
It is unreasonable to expect average tax filer to be a software expert. For that matter, even CAs ideally of finance experts - not machine level software experts.
To get things in perspective, all NetBanking operations of leading banks work smoothly as a black box software tool. Never heard of someone transferring 1000 through NEFT or IMPS ending up with actual transfer of any random amount other than intended. Surely, no bank will justify with a foolish statement saying there was a stack overflow issue or that user used google chrome browser or safari or android system.
It is indeed disgraceful that a software used by millions ends up creating nuisance year after year for last 5 years or so. Looks like there is no accountability. When budget proposals are cleared latest by July, Infosys has about 8-9 months to tweek last year's software, test it and release it before April 1.
Who is responsible for creating total message with schedule CG in name of simplicity!!

Fully agree with you.
My writing about the Software issues was to basically highlight what is happening.
The public is SICK and TIRED of the Return Filing problems from the day INFOSYS took over the contract.
I wanted to highlight that even the offline non excel utility is not usable except on Microsoft Windows 10 or 11 with Its own browser.

I sympathize with you but unable to provide any solution to your json validation issue. The error message is not providing sufficient info to attack the source of the problem.
