ITR2 validation error BP,EI, dividend income

3082 views 15 replies

Hi

I have some presumptive income from profession (not business, no balance sheet, no audit needed) and some dividend income from shares. I have put them in correct schedules.

Validation error comes like this:

In Schedule OS/ Schedule EI, the amount of dividend income mentioned is cannot be more than the dividend income reduced from Schedule BP;#;Kindly ensure that dividend income mentioned in schedule OS or schedule EI should be equal to dividend income reduced from Schedule BP.

in shcedule General, have you ticked properly the option of 'books of accounts are not required to be maintained?'

Check it, the defect will be resolved.

Thanks. I think, I have done so. Will check and give feedback tomorrow.

Any solution?? Facing the same issue.

I replied but the reply is lost.

I checked the same. I have ticked that entry.

Screen shot of audit part of Schedule General is attached for reference please.

Select yes for the second question.

I will do, and give feedback.

In fact, I had ticked yes first. Then I re-read the question. Since it says, "do you have income only from ...", and I have income from salary and dividend, I ticked no.

Going by your advice, this point relates only to parts of Section 44. Is that so?

Hope, this helps others also. Thanks in advance.

I found this issue mentioned in one of the 9 issues ICAI have flagged to IT Department. I am quoting ET article below.

That means, many people are facing this issue. Kindly peruse it if it helps you to guide people in general.

Thanks and regards.

ICAI says this: "There is some difficulty in the reflection of dividend income in Schedule OS for taxpayers having business income. The current utility mandates that the income be reflected and then reduced from business income before showing it in Schedule OS. The utility may be updated to allow for the correct reflection of dividend income in Schedule OS without requiring it to be first included and then reduced from business income."

That solution is for the assessee maintaining books of account.

For assesses who do not maintain books of accounts, this issue is not there.

That did not resolve the issue.

However, since it seems to be general glith, and also that it was a secondary type of error, which did not stop verification of ITR, I verified and finally submitted. Hope, that does not create an issue later.

Thanks for the support.

FOUND THE SOLUTION

I have also faced the problem but find the above Solution

FIRST OPEN THE PART-A PROFIT AND LOSS ACCOUNT AND EDIT 14(iii) AND write the DIVIDEND/Capital gains u/s 111A/112A amount in and save the data

Second Open the Schedule BP and Click 3 and click edit and enter the Dividend/Capital gains u/s 111A/112A by less a lesser amount as compared to First above (you can reduce the amount by Re. 1 also) here also save the data

Third  Same amount in Schedule OTHER INCOMES

Did this but Problem still exist. anyone have solution for this ? Thank you in advance.

Did you find any solution to it?

I'm also facing same issue in ITR3

I did not find a solution. The experts here were helpful but Income Tax guys shunted the query here and there.

Since this issue did not stop from filing the ITR, I filed it.

Going by what ICAI has represented to IT department, I think, it is more of an unnecessary reconciliation demanded by IT.

Same issue here, tried somany times, but didn't get solution. So I filled the ITR 3 any way. Let's see what happens
