I filed ITR on 1-7-19 and received a letter of appreciation on 16-7-19, but the ITR is yet to be processed, I have no refund and a senior citizen, does it become like last year which took long time.

Let CPC take its own time........
For your information, many of assessees have already received refund for AY 2019-20.....
CPC gives priority to refund cases. You need to wait for few days
see appreciation letter once again carefully
