Itr filing without form 16

680 views 1 replies

Hi,

My friend working as a marine engineer.  He'd worked in two companies in the last FY.  Totally lesser than 180 days he'd sailed.

From one company, he'd got Form16 based on TDS deduction, but not from another company.

They said that since total income in the FY is lesser than 1.8L they did not do tax deduction and not providing Form16 as well.

For this case, kindly please tell how he will have to do the Tax return for this.

Thanks
Sakitram

Dear Sakitram, Salaries received from both the Employers should be considered in ITR. In simple words take the taxable salary as per form16 issued by one of the employer and for the other employer compute the taxable salary received considering various exemptions and deductions applicable to different components of his salary. Now file the return considering salaries from both employers. And yes dont forget to claim the tax deducted by one of the employer who issued form16. Regards.
