ITR Filing for AY 2022-23

Dear Respected Experts,

My Client has not filed ITR Return for AY 2022-23 and is now willing to file return before 31st March 2023. I need to know if it can be done now as last date to file return for AY 2022-23 was 31st December 2022.

In regular course, you cannot file ITR for AY 2022-23 now.

Only chance is updated return u/s. 139(8A) of IT act, if there is any tax liability.

@ Manik,

Last date for ITR filing for Individual was 31st July and Belated return deadline 31.12.2022.

Still you can file ITR even after March 2023 under section 139(8A) - ITR U ( Updated Return)

Yes itr under section 139(8a) can be filed with additional tax liability

Sir,

But the client has no tax liability. In fact he has refund amount. Can I file his return until March 2023 and if yes then under which Income Tax Section.

The return for the A.Y. 2022-23 can be filed under sec. 119(2)(b) , condonation of delay if there is refund.

Online condonation id delay is for e verification purposes only ( ITR already filed but not verified). Hence one must apply for condonation of delay manually
