Suppose if a person invests ₹1 lakh in shares and mutual funds (gross annual income being below ₹2.5lakhs)
.Is it necessary(or optional) to file ITR even though the gross annual income is below ₹ 2.5 lakhs?

Its not mandatory to file ITR, when gross income is below 2.50 L (or below exemption limit)
