Itr-1 income tax

Hi, I have little doubt. I was working in pvt co . now i am filing my itr -1 my total package was 6.50 Lakh. point is- when I am going to file ITR Income details section punching the value 4.80 lakh the Income under income from salary except HRA, medical allowance, convy allwance etc. after that claiming the 80c 1.50. my total taxable income.3.30 Lakh. Is it right? But my form -16 showing total credited amount is 6.50 lakh automatically. and when going to submit the return massage showing mismatch in income details and TDS-2 details. thanks

Hi Anu,

Are HRA, convyeance allowance exemptions, 80C deductions appearing in your Form 16? If yes, nothing to worry- It is commonly faced error message which will not invalidate your return.

If Form 16 is not showing these exemptions/ deductions, but you are (rightfully) claiming these in ITR, keep the relevant documents ready as the department may seek out explanation for the differences between your Form 16 and the ITR. Also note that, if any exemptions/ deductions do not appear in Form 16 it does not mean you cannot claim the same in your ITR. You can always claim a rightful deduction/ exemption irrespective of the fact that it appears or not in your Form 16.

I assume your salary has components of HRA and Conveyance Allowance against which you are claiming these. FYI- you can't claim HRA and other deductions/ exemptions if they are not components of your salary package.
