we r fabrication contractors and registered at DIC as micro industry in year 2009. we r looking for register ourself as regular fabrication contractor in some industry. but they required EPF (employee providend fund) registration for atleast 4 labours. so we visited the EPF office. they told us to submit any proof of starting of the organisation i.e. in 2009. shall we require to fill the the previous amount of PF before the date of EPF registration? is it require to deposit any amount at the time of registration.?
please tell me the procedure and rules in detail for EPF registration. i dont want to deposit the PF of employee working before 2011.

EPF gets covered as
1) mandatory coverage - from the date of appointment of twenty or more employees
2) voluntary coverage - from the date you seek, provided you have less than twenty employees.
if your establishment is having more than 20 workers, directly or indirectly emplyed then you have to pay contribution from the date of getting 20+ employees.
