The requirement of HSN depends on aggregate turnover. If the aggregate turnover does not exceed Rs 1.5 crore , then no need of HSN.

If turnover more than 1.5 crore then it is required
then also upto 5 crores only two digits of HSN code is required,
above,
5 crores 4 digits of HSN code is required
above,
5 crores 4 digits of HSN code is required
