Is c.a really worth it?

is C.A really worth it or is it just the hype..lack of campus placements, decrease in the industry pay packet and the most important of all lack of importance..its an open secret we all know that ICAI fails students wantedly to keep up their demand always.( i dont know how far it is true) and lack of pay scales with CA 's ready to work for a mere 20 grand a month is something thats bothering me big time.i mean who wants to work for such low pay when you slog your ass day in and day out to qualify and what you end up getting of 20 grand which an ordinary BPO emplyoee can easily earn with a mere b.com qualification. lack of transperancy in the institute..203 people passing after revaluation of november 2011 papers has stuck me hard on my head..i would have easily cleared if i had opted for revaluation..i had more faith in icai that though i scored 195 in group 1 i thought i was only worth that which eventually proved wrong. and the last one lack of importance in the society..those cheap grade coaching institutes make ca as cheap as possible makes me wonder what is icai doing? i did an extended articles of just 10 days because i didn't comply with the leave requirements..icai haunted me like a watch dog then and why is it being so lineat on these institutes who offer dummy articles and full time classes with no quality what so ever..? ll these makesme wonder is C.A going to become another B.tech? are we struggling to qualify for no reason..i mean i would expect some value to be given to me after i worked so hard to be a ca..

I've cleared PCC (CA Inter) in last year May and since then joined my family business. So can anyone here please guide me to continue my business itself or start studying for CA-Final.
Hi friends, I don' know whether CA is worth or not, but one thing is for sure, once you become chartered you feel th fire in your belly, you feel confident and you always walk with an upheld head. Also, if I look at the other side of the picture, I must say, even after qualifying, if you get a job of your choice you are the luckiest person on earth. I have seen CAs working for peanuts just because they have now compromised with their life and they feel this is what a CA worth. We all face job problem, this is in actually not our problem, this is something which ICAI should think bout, CC members siting at the top should do something to improvise campus selection procedures. Companies should hire CAs knowledge wise not attempt wise. In todays scenario a fresh CA should get atleast Rs. 9.00 lacs p.a. People have started working in BPOs/KPOs, they are happy there, atleast they have some (CA) base and they are earning, but correct not doing just to their qualification. I am a CA and CWA working with Barclays in Risk and Governance but still looking for something which I intend to do as a CA. Despite of many drawbacks, dost CA is CA.......we worth it and we got it......cheers for life.

i wud like point out tat the outside world has created the hype of ca....ca is the gr8test qualfn in finance...tis is absolutely wrong....... ca do is only tax n audit.....the main purpose of dooing ca must be  to do practise....my grandpa who is also a ca used to sat tat ca who went 4 employment used to be called worthless....i think icai shud learn from world a/c ting bodies like acca, icaew n cima tat not to make money out of tis course.....people spend years doing tis course.....ppl in outside world feel tat tax is very complex u can never in ur life understand it....tis is  wrong..... ppl with bcom to are taxation partners in big 4's.....articleship is the worst of it all....one of my cousins in uk is doing acan doing his articleship from bdo....life der is tough very tough but der is no politics biasness like in india....i feel jealous of him...really envy him....der is no attempt in doing aca in uk der is nothing as such.....only knowledge mattes...likewise here ca are considered on the basis of attempts(4 god's sake tis is not a graduate/degree courses).....god help those huare pursuing ca

A Chartered Accountant today is definitely not of the same repute that he used to be few years ago...The fact that the CAs are working at a pay scale of as low as 20k is itself a big disrepute to the profession..in my opinion it has something to do with the kind of structure that the icai has in place..having said that, i feel that the examination pattern of icai has reached the lowest of standards..only by studyiing a few questions, a candidate can pass the exam..just study the practice manual and the scanner nd the RTP nd u can fancy your chances into the exam.. i went through the scanner of past years nd found that the question that were asked in the previous attempts were very analytical and hard as compared to questions asked now a days..the candidates pass the xam by applying their strong "rattafication" (cramming) skills nd when they reach the practical world they find them helpless and ultimately jobless because they dont possess practical knowledge as they remained on leave for maximum period of their articleship or they were dummy articles nd they passed the exam by their cramming skills nd not by applying practical knowledge.

ICAI speaks a lot through it code of ethics nd circulars/notifications about the dummy articles but hardly does anything to keep a check onto that.besides that ca students dont get training in SAP in the ITT..gone are the days when CAs used to be ultimate business solution providers, they are valued only because they have the attestation powers..ICAI needs to make some serious changes in structure and the curriculum of the CA Course to keep that in line with the demands of industry and the changing world else a day will come when all CAs will start practice nd they will find themselves roaming with their stamps in hand nd not really findig anything to attest..

i have also appeared for CA Final this attempt nd very soon, I will be in the practical world...lets see whether I face the usual scenario or get the expected..

I feel CA is becoming like MBA... must do soething keep its reputation...

Surprisingly only one person of you, whoever has commented, is a CA (suhas). Other how do you comment anything whithout having test of it..

CA is the matter of repute even today and people get very good packages as well. But its not only CA degree which will fatch you everythin. CA Degree is just a gate pass to enter in to a corporate world with a higher position and/or a higher package. But before that you ahve to prove yourself in Interviews. Just because you are CA they will never ever hire you.

I am a Chartered and I am proud of being Chartered. This degree has given me good level in my personal and social life. And today when i want to go in to practise, this is the only business which does not require any Capital.

CA course is worth doing anytime. Only you can create your own value and you can not blam it your ICAI.

I m not in favour of ICAI for many of their staretergy but still CA is still the course worth doing.

Hi Suhas,

I am one of those B.Com, CA final and SAP guy and who is earning more. But i will earn better with CA

Also if IT boom fails i can be independant

Hi,

They say that Indian CAs are ranked the second best globally. The first best being london CAs ofcourse. But then why is it that CAs here in India aren't really getting something big after slogging for 4.5 years and graduating? For everything then it's the same story. Go abroad to get well educated and well paid. No point graduating in India. :-/

c.a. is worth....

people hav more focus wen smting goes wrong...i mean tat wen nly 15% chartered are facing employmnt problems ;market wil start shouting

tat ca r nwadays unemployed..but my frnd see the prosperous 85% c.a.

icai sud surely increase its level of xams so as to reduce tat minority of 15% too...

C.A. R GREAT AND SAME WIL B FUTURE IF ICAI RESPONDS EFFECTIVELY

worthless considering hardwork of 4-5 yrs. it is better to do global courses life CFA, CIMA, ACCA to get best placement

Great job Harsh....good u wrote dis....it's good to know everyone's comments on dis.....

I think MBA is better than CA.

1. MBAs can never do auditing

2. MBAs are not involved in comlicated tax planning.

3.MBAs can never practice their profession. But CA can.

4. if u say MBAs get better package, its true only in case of IIM...others get same or it differs marginally.

5. CA enjoys a cutting edge over other compititors coz of intuitive and analytical skills

6. MBAs never suffer punishment of repeating all subjects if they fail in 1.

MERA "CA" MAHAN.......!!!!!!!!!

my frnd dhiren, placement is not everyting...u sud jst do a course tat helps u to advise more number of businesn man,......nt one company..bt u r right in one manner...if one opts to do course in addition to ca..he sud nt go for mba..bt for tis international courses
