My cousin received intimation u/s 143(1) dt. 26-9-2018 for A.y. 2017-18, showing tax payable Rs.25380 as he did not paid tax on epf withdrawn, while filing his tax return in march 2018. But he did not pay that amount yet. How can he pay the demand amount now? Whether he has to recalculate the amount because of delay in payment?

First pay the outstanding demand which is 25380. After the payment you will receive another demand for interest over delayed payment, may be within 15/20 days. On its payment your net liability will be nil.

Hello sir, in the above case demand u/s 143(1) received on 26-9-2018 to pay tax I.r.o epf withdrawn not shown in original return filed on 31-3-2018. Accordingly we paid the amount 25830 on 10-5-2019. But a Rectification order u.s154 dt 1-6-19 showing income under other sources as zero and tax payable nil, showing Rectification request dt 1.5.19. No rectification request submitted by us on that day.
Tax paid by us on 10-5-19 as per demand has not considered In the rectification order. It's showing only self assessment tax paid on filing original return.
Whether we get refund of the tax paid as per demand u.s. 143(1) dt 26/9/18?
