Dear sir,

Return filed in ITR -4 online for A.Y. 2009-10 u/s 44AF. I hv filed details of Gross receipt , Exp and profit in item 45 of PART PL sheet like Gross Receipts ... Rs.669500, Exp...490490 and Profit Rs. 179010.In BP sheet same profit shown in item 33 ( iii) i.e. profit u/s 44AF. accordingly Income become Rs. 179010 and tax etc computed.

Now I received intimation from CPC, Bangalore showing income double i.e. 358020 and raised demand.
As I come to know in this forum also that CPC Bangalore is sending wrong intimation to tax payers.

Kindly guide course of action :

1. Should I write a letter to CPC , Bangalore by stating facts and request for rectification u/s 154 or simple letter to be written to them ? Whether letter should send by ordinary mail or speed post?

2. Should I contact to Jurisdictional A.O.at home place to rectify the same ?

in my view you should file rectification petition u/s 154 or if u can manage a meeting with A.O at home than whats better than this.

however, writing simple letter would be of no use as income tax deptt. does not consider such letters. it would be in vain . courts does not recognise such letters.

Many assesses have received this mistaken intimation this year. Just write a letter u/s 154 rectification stating your case and hand-delivery to the concerned AC.
