Quick Summary
This discussion explores the eligibility of claiming Goods and Services Tax (GST) paid on electricity bills as input tax credit (ITC). While some believe it's not eligible due to electricity supply being excluded from GST, others argue that if GST is indeed charged, ITC should be claimable as it's not explicitly restricted under Section 17(5) of the CGST Act.

No, the GST paid on electricity bills is not eligible for input tax credit

I guess there should not be any restriction on claiming ITC because same is not mentioned in Sec 17(5) of CGST Act

Who is charging gst on electricity bill?
Electricity supply is excluded from GST , hence no GST will be charged on electricity bill and no question of credit arises.
Yes ITC is available.
