Informing PAN through DIN-4

Dear Members

Mentioning PAN in DIN application has now been made mandatory.

Stake holders who had not mentioned the PAN earlier have now been mandated by MCA to file DIN-4 before 31st May 2011 through which PAN has to be intimated to the department.

We had earlier obtained DIN for foreign nationals who does not possess PAN.

Kindly advise whether those foreign nationals has to apply and obtain PAN and then intimate the same to MCA

Circular is applicable to existing DIN Holders...and intention is to avoid duplicate DIN, indirectly they want to keep track by PAN no.

Litreally and logically answer is Yes, they need to apply for DIN, however practically it will take more than time what MCA has specified in circular that is 31 May, as they the application for PAN for NRI and Non resident will take more than 45 days.

Hello!

If we read circuler then it has mentioned that it is mandatory to mention PAN for Indian Nationals and Passport No for foreign National. And At Last they have mentioned that All Din holders need to intimate PAN by filing of DIN 4..........................

So, as per my conclusion in case of foreign nationals just Passport no is sufficient...........and the need for intimating the PAN is only for Indian DIN Holders.

Contrary views are welcomed

Hello Muralidharan

In my view, though the circular states  PAN for indian nationals, it further states at Point 3, Filing of DIN-4

by all Existing DIN Holders, which means to include foreign nationals too .

So DIN-4 Filing would be required here for foreign nationals too who has obtained PAN No.

The idea is to detect the duplicate based on PAN.

Also DIN Cell would intimate via email/sms to respective din holders who have not furnished their PAN.

So this can be cross check for you for filing DIN-4.

As far foreign nationals not having obtained PAN , no need to file DIN-4.
