Inflation falls to 0.70 pc on easing food prices 

Inflation fell to 0.70 per cent for the week ending 26th September from 0.83 per cent in the previous week on slight easing of food prices over the week. 

 

The wholesale price index-based inflation stood below one per cent mark for the fourth consecutive week after rising from sub-zero levels in the first week of September.

 

Among food items poultry chicken fell by 3 per cent while bajra, fruits and vegetables, condiments and spices, and arhar prices slipped by a per cent each.

 

Manufactured food items that saw a decline in prices included oil cakes (5 per cent), imported edible oil (2 per cent), and sugar, malted food, coconut oil and groundnut oil (1 per cent).
