When I edit the xls file for efiling the bank account number shown is only 14 though 15 digits are entered. In the print file it shows only 13 digits. When I open again and check the a/c field to edit it shows 15 digits and the acknowlegement (ITRV) generated does not have the a/c number entry to cross check.Would this not effect when online returns for excess tax paid is to be claimed. Help please.

This anomaly appears because of the limited space in the xls utilty field. Therefore it also appears in the print. Actually the Account Numbers under CBS were originally conceived to be of 11 digits only.
However, if you check the XML file generated for uploading, you will find there the actual number filled by you. The data in the XML file is uploaded in the Computer of Income-Tax Department for assessement.
I agree with Amar. I can quote an example where my friend faced same issue. In his case he was able to see his correct details on the generated XML
