for the assesment year 2009-10 i filled my ITR-4 as i was having a business. business was closed in december 08 and sale tax number was also surrendered.
as i discontinued my business and started working somwhere so can i file ITR-1 for the ass year 2010-11. my tax liability is nil.

No You have to file ITR 4 in this itr your both income will come ie salary income and business income

I have a few questions relating to the ITR-series forms:
1. What form should be used if the only sources of income/loss are salary, interest and margin trading? What if the only sources of income/loss are salary, interest and futures & options trading?
2. Should only the total value of transactions or other details too must be entered in the “Annual Information Return” (AIR) section of the forms?

yes, for A.Y. 2010-11, as you don't have any business going on....... you can file ITR-1.......
but for A.Y. 2009-10, you have to file ITR-4 showing the income you had from Business till December 2008........

agreed you can file for Ay 2009-10 ITR 1 which will be filed in ward according to Salary Ward which is as per Company name.
