Dear All, I have one of my frnd whose refund us pending for 2 AY (say 0910 & 1011). his cheque has been returned with reason metnioned "The assessee has shifted " and he has not yet recd the same.

Request you to let me know how he can claim it ?

Also let me know the process if he want to get the refund on his current address which is diff from the one which he has provided while filing ROI. ?

 

Does it have any relevance if the PAN Card address is different from the one mentined in ROI ?

In case the address is changed please update the PAN master database.

If the return has been filed online, it will be processed online at CPC - Bangalore.  For non issuance of refund, the department sends a email at the registered email address/email address filed in the income tax return. Along with it they will send a "Response Sheet" where you have to fill the bank details and option to be selected by the assessee for ECS or Cheque. Address will be mandatory field where you have to mention address as per ITR and address as per updated PAN database. As long as address in the PAN is not updated, they wil not respond.

If the return has been filed manually, assessee needs to contact to his  ward assessing officer.

If it is off line filing he has to approach local assessing officer for refund process. For that he has to submit a wriiten document to the department about the fact and mention his current residential address along with bank details
