Income tax refund of previous years excess salary recovered in current year.

I have been paid excess salary during the year 2010 to 2016 due to an un-due additional increment given by the department. As soon as, the matter came into the notice of the department, the department now started to deduct a sum of Rs.2500/- p.m. form my salary. I have already been paid Tax on this extra salary during the year 2010 to 2016 which now is being deducted from my current salary i.e. fy 2022-23. My question is how to adjust claim or get refund of tax on the recovery amount. Can my dept. reduce the recovery amount from my Gross Salary while issuring the Form 16 for the financial year 2022-23 or

Can I reduce the recovery amount from my Gross Salary while filling the Income Tax Return.

Kindly guide me in the matter & oblige.

Employer to reduce / recover from salary paid for current yrs and do TDS according

If u reduce then it will not tally as per 26As/AIS

Then if demand is raised by authorities, then u will have to correspond with them, show the previous details, and follow up with AO of your jurisdiction

Our income must match AIS/ 26AS and difference if any to be proved

If, Employer reduce the recover amount from my gross salary. The dept. is in doubt that under which section They can reduce the such amount. You are humbly requested to plz guide me
