Income tax refund for last two years for refund

Dear all,

One of my client is NRI and he wants to file itr for last two years for claiming refund so is it possible to file previous itr for refund.
if it possible so how can I file income tax return?

Latest year is ITR can be done .

And another year can be done through 139(8A) .

Login and check if the 139(8A) is enabled for NRI

You can file condonation petition before jurisdictional CIT for those assessment years. you can't file updated ITR since same is for augmenting revenue and not for refund purpose. apart from that you have to pay 25% or 50%, as the case may be, additional tax on income admitted. so on the end of the day you won't get any refund

This is possible because the IT department allows very salaried people to claim a refund for depositing tax. Therefore any individual can claim a few online using the new ITR E-filing portal. Here we are also providing a simple easy method to claim the income tax refund online. Let's follow a step-by-step process to claim the IT refund.

1. The first step is for taxpayers can then login into the new file ITR portal https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in. with the customer ID, password, and captcha.

2. In the second step go to my account and click on the top left side of the screen near the after then dashboard click & select the service request option. select a new request under the request type field and choose “Refund Reissue” as the Request category.

3. In the third step, you will be able to view all refund failures for each AY. Submit a refund request for a particular year by clicking on submit.

4. Forth step fill in the information such as Bank Account No., Account Type, IFSC Code, Bank Name, and Address. After successful processing, your bank account will be credited with the refund.
